Separate cooling from airflow
Does the fan blow strongly but the air stay warm, or is airflow weak at every setting? Does cooling work briefly and then stop? Note whether the issue was gradual, followed a repair or appeared suddenly. Report unusual noise, smell and problems clearing the windows.
Why a refill may not be enough
A leak, insufficient refrigerant, ventilation or filter issues, compressor operation and electrical controls can all require consideration. Filling the system does not repair a leak or an electrical fault. The vehicle's system and refrigerant must be identified before the correct scope and quote can be proposed.
What to avoid doing yourself
Do not open refrigerant lines, use improvised refill products or assume that an air freshener fixes the reason for a smell. Products that mask odour do not establish the mechanical condition of the system. Tell the workshop about previous servicing, leak treatments or refrigerant work if known.
Noise, burning smell or poor visibility
Switch off the air conditioning if it develops a burning smell or strong unusual noise, and seek advice. If the engine overheats, stop safely rather than treating it as just a comfort issue. Do not continue driving if the windows cannot be kept clear enough for safe visibility.
Booking a targeted check
Include make, model, year, last air-conditioning service if known, airflow strength and when cooling stops. The cost depends on the confirmed work and the actual vehicle, not a generic figure for every system. If the concern is heating rather than cooling, use the separate heater guide so the symptoms are described accurately.
